April 22nd is Earth Day, an annual event for us all to consider our impact on the environment and how we can look after the earth better. At Bottles ‘N’ Jars we try to source wines from smaller estates, which, have a smaller impact and tend to be kinder to the environment.
We have a huge selection of natural, organic, and even biodynamic wines to choose from. But to make it easier we’ve put together a pack for you. This pack can be delivered nationwide or delivered for free locally or even collected from our shop. We reuse all the packaging we receive deliveries in and use them responsibly to pack up orders securely.
Domaine Leon Boesch Riesling Les Grandes 2019
Not much has changed in the last few hundred years at this estate. It’s still owned and run by the same family who hand harvest these organic and biodynamic certified vines. When ploughing in the fields they still use real horsepower (not many estates can say that). The result is one of the purest and expressive Rieslings from the Alsace we’ve ever tasted. Being green and sustainable never tasted so good!
Côtes-du-Rhône Rouge `Petit Ours` Matthieu Barret
Matthieu Barret is an inspiring winemaker, his top wines, which are bottled under the ‘Cornas’ appellation, sell for hundreds of pounds. This is his entry wine, a Cote du Rhone, this is a chance to get familiar with his expert winemaking at a fraction of the price. His vines are organic and Biodynamic but goes far beyond that, he’s writing his own rules and inspiring other winemakers; using new techniques, equipment and philosophy to keep his vines healthy and have a smaller impact on the environment.
2020 Beaujolais Marylou, Guy Breton
Along with Jean Foillard, Jean-Paul Thevenet and Marcel Lapierre, Breton was part of the ‘Gang of Four’. They did something incredibly important in this part of Beaujolais, leading the way with natural winemaking and inspiring others in the region to go to the next level. Here they demonstrate how more hands-on natural methods in the vineyard and the hands-off approach in the winery made the wines of Beaujolais world-class and compete with some of the best in Burgundy.
Contra Soarda Soarda Vespaiolo 2019
A family-run estate with the highest levels of viticulture. Based in the north of Veneto in the hill. A juicy and fruit driven wine with a slight volcanic edge gives this wine a real sense of place. The fruit is classified as organic, and nothing is added or taken away during the winemaking process. The family try and have a small impact, all grapes are hand-harvested and no pesticides are used.
Rose Bagnum - Cotes-du-Rhone, du Grappin
All the fun of a magnum but served in a sustainable pouch, this packaging is great as it saves on shipping weight lowering it’s carbon footprint. Not only that, how great would it be to have one of these in your fridge – rose on tap for the next sunny spring day. Once used it even seals itself with the tap keeping your wine fresher for longer.
