Friday 20th May, a day dedicated just to bees! Now more than ever it’s important to recognise the important role bees have in our natural environment. They help to pollinate the food we eat and many trees and flowers that provide a habitat for wildlife.
How can you help?
Planting certain varieties in your garden that encourage bees can be a massive help. Look out for the following in your local garden centre, they’re all great for early summer -
- Campanula
- Comfrey
- Delphinium
- Foxglove
- Hardy geranium
- Honesty
- Hollyhock
- Potentilla
- Snapdragon
- Stachys
- Teasel
- Thyme
- Verbascum

The good stuff
Maybe you just need a delicious glass of wine in your garden/ local park. Here are a couple of seasonal favourites that also have links to bees.

The theme of this year's World Bee Day is Bee engaged: Build Back Better for Bees, focusing on actions for restoring, supporting and enhancing the role of these pollinators. As Bottle 'N' Jars sits on the London B-Line we are looking at ways in which we can actively promote these pollinators supporting the bees, who knows in the future we might even have some East Finchley honey for you!
